This Privacy Policy describes how MIA — Marine Inspection Assistant ("MIA", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and encrypted password through Supabase Auth. We do not collect your name unless you choose to provide it.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you use the app, including:
- Inspection type selected (PSC, SIRE, CDI, ISM, USCG, ISPS)
- Number of questions asked (for quota management)
- Subscription plan status
- App language preference
Content You Submit:
- Text questions — sent to Anthropic Claude API for processing
- Audio recordings — sent to Deepgram API for speech-to-text transcription; audio is not stored after transcription
- Photos — sent to Anthropic Claude API for OCR/analysis; images are not stored after processing
- Documents (PDF) — sent to Anthropic Claude API for analysis; documents are not stored after processing
Payment Information: Subscription payments are processed through Apple App Store. We do not collect or store credit card information. RevenueCat is used to manage subscription entitlements.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide AI-powered maritime inspection assistance
- To manage your account and subscription quota
- To improve the accuracy and relevance of responses
- To authenticate your identity and prevent unauthorized access
- To send important service notifications (not marketing)
3. Third-Party Services
MIA uses the following third-party services to deliver its functionality:
- Supabase — authentication and database (GDPR compliant, EU data centers available). Privacy Policy

- Deepgram — speech-to-text transcription of voice recordings. Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management. Privacy Policy

4. Data Storage and Security
Your account data is stored securely in Supabase's encrypted database. We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
- JWT token-based authentication
- Row-level security policies in the database
- No storage of audio, images, or documents after processing
5. Data Retention
- Account data — retained while your account is active
- Quota usage records — reset monthly
- Audio recordings — deleted immediately after transcription
- Photos and documents — not stored; processed in real-time only
- Chat history — currently stored only on your device (not on our servers)
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of your personal data
- Correction — update inaccurate information
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection — object to certain types of processing

7. Children's Privacy
MIA is designed for maritime professionals and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.
8. Enterprise and Fleet Accounts
If you use MIA through an Enterprise or Fleet account provided by your employer:
- Your employer (Fleet Admin) may see your usage statistics
- Company documents uploaded by Fleet Admins may be used to provide contextual answers
- Your individual questions are not shared with your employer
9. International Data Transfers
MIA is operated from Ukraine. Your data may be processed in various countries where our service providers operate, including the United States and European Union. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of MIA after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
